As early as 2006, REMA was able to achieve an improvement in operational waste in manual sorting with the use of NIR recognition in medium granule size. In 2007 it was possible to make a further improvement here with another conversion, this time to large granule size:
The parts that can be used for substitute fuels are sorted from the rest of the manual large size sorting with light material extraction by suction and the remaining waste is thereby significantly reduced.
All substitute fuel materials are processed at double the flow rate as ready-to-use substitute fuels on the substitute fuel line which was built at the same time.
